Fused glass colored by ash and soot from natural materials / 52 x 40 cm / 2018 - 2022
I approach glass with a focus on its functional aspect of being able to preserve things within its transparent layer.
I collect objects with various meanings within the concept of disappearance, from minor objects like waste paper and natural objects in my daily life to materials from places that hold larger meanings as they relate to cases of disappearance within the current period.
The work is created only through the firing process without any help of pigments or colored glass.
Comparing the changes before and after firing, it is interesting whether ordinary or special materials transformed to ash and soot, losing their original shape and colors.
바니타스 시리즈
유리에 자연물에서 변형된 재와 그을음 / 52 x 40 cm / 2018 - 2022
투명하게 다른 사물을 보존할 수 있다는 유리의 성질을 이용해 작업에 접근하였다.
작게는 낙엽같은 주변의 자연물이나 일상에서 버려지는 것들부터 크게는 동시대에서 사회, 정치적으로 사라지는 장소에서 수집된 오브제들까지 사라짐과 관련된 다양한 물질들을 수집한다.
작업은 인공적인 색안료를 사용하지 않고 유리 사이에 물질들을 넣고 소성시키는 태움의 과정만을 통해 제작된다.
물질들은 재와 그을음으로 변형되며 본래 가지고 있던 색과 형태를 잃고 추상적인 형상으로 변형된다.
